Each child will have an engaging, hands-on experience of the sights, sounds, smells and touches of the farm. This supportive active environment encourages children’s
engagement in learning. Kindifarm embraces an experience that relates to The
Early Years Learning Framework for Australia: Belonging, Being and Becoming.
Tell me and I’ll forget; show me and I may remember; involve me and I’ll understand.
A typical visit allows participants to:
- Meet the animals, by walking around the pen with pellets to feed them.
- Bottle-feed our calf.
- Learn about the smaller animals, by sitting in circles to hold and pat chicks, rabbits and ducks.
- Watch our piglet eat like a pig, and pat the piglet’s skin to fell the comparison to other animals.
- Bottle feed the lambs or kids.
- Watch a sheep shearing demonstration, hold freshly shorn wool, smell its odor and feeling the lanolin. We’ll even leave a bag of wool for the whole class to use in art and craft.
- Listen to our farmer do a stock whip cracking demonstration to show how we muster sheep and cows.
