Schools Paddock to Plate ES1

school visit

Learning about ‘Living things’ really comes alive when Kindifarm visits! Our sessions meet Science and Technology outcomes and indicators for Es1 and S1. A fun and safe introduction to farm animals, our school sessions address the Paddock to Plate , and Growing and Changing units of study. Learning links to KLA outcomes for HSIE, Science and English. Early Stage 1 farm activity ideas can be found here.
Each 60 minute session provides 9 different interactive farm activities:

  • Introduction to farm animals as students hand feed the animals. Students learn the name of the parent and child of each species.
  • Bottle-feeding our baby calf . Learn where milk comes from, and what additional products cows provide.
  • Bottle feeding baby lambs and goats.
  • Students sit to hold baby chicks, discuss where chicks come from, and what products chickens provide.
  • Hold rabbits and learn why rabbits have long ears, and why rabbits would be on a farm.
  • Pat a ducks, learn why ducks have webbed feet.
  • Feed and pat the piglet. Students learn why pigs roll in the mud, and what purpose pigs have on a farm.
  • A brief sheep shearing demonstration where the children hold some freshly shorn wool, and discuss the different products sheep give us.
  • Finally we finish with a bang, when our farmer does a stock whip cracking demonstration to show the children how we muster sheep and cows with the sound of a stock whip.

Farmer Kennedy & Farmer Tina hosted a great morning for our Kindergarten class. There was ample opportunity for students to hold and feed the farm animals, and the information provided to the students was beneficial to our unit.

Thank you so much for visiting Northmead Public School. The children loved seeing the animals and it was great to have so many interactive experiences! Feeding the animals was particularly fun for the students. We were very impressed with the knowledgeable and friendly farmers, Sara and Will, who kept our students engaged for the whole visit. Many thanks for a wonderful opportunity for our children!

The Kindifarm was such an amazing experience for our Kindergarten students. Such great value for money. The farmer was very knowledgeable and ensured every child got the opportunity to pat and feed each animal. Was such a worthwhile and memorable experience for our students and so much fun!! Will definitely be booking again

Great substitute for an actual Farm excursion due to COVID and the kids absolutely loved it. Obviously much more affordable without the cost of the bus, but they don't get to roam around in the pen with the animals. Amber was great to deal with and within 30 mins of the last session it was almost like it was never there. Thanks!

Hi
We had Kennedy come to our school yesterday - Brighton le Sands Public. He was amazing, very hands on, extremely engaging and interactive with the animals and students, the Kindy classes enjoyed the visit.
the only complain I have is that we spoke about the mini farm on the phone and agreed to it, but then I was emailed a stock standard form which included the whip cracking and sheep shearing, in hindsight I shouldn't have been sent this email, just an email confirmation with the mini farm details. To take information of invoice is too late.
Other than that Kennedy was fantastic and his communication skills were great, he also sent a text message in the morning communicating that he was on his way, this is great customer service.

Our school recently had a visit from KINDIFARM due to only incursions being allowed at this COVID 19 time. Usually we would take the kids to a farm as part of our Farm unit of work. The staff at KINDIFARM made it easy and convenient to organise the visit. On the day, 'Farmer Amber' was a delight to have at our school. Her communication with the children was wonderful to see, as she reinforced the learning the students had been undertaking about animals and their importance to us. The event went very smoothly thanks to Amber and the students had the "best school-day ever"! The animals were clearly very happy and well cared for and so cute. We will definitely invite KINDIFARM to our school again!

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we couldn't go on our annual Kindy farm excursion this year. I'm so glad I came across Kindifarm - the kids had such a wonderful experience feeding and patting all the animals. Farmer Will was awesome with all of the children and shared some great information that we didn't know!

Kindifarm was a wonderful experience. It linked very well with our unit of work on Farms. A special thank you to Farmer Will who within 1 hours allowed students to hold and feed the animals. He also gave us a sheep shearing and whip cracking demonstration! Thank you Kindifarm on behalf of all our students.

Kindifarm was a great experience for our students! In 1 hour, they got to see so many different animals as well as feeding and holding them. Will was great with the kids and kept them so engaged. This was a great way to bring the farm to us as we can't go to the farm!
